The nearshore reef has been really good lately as the waters are cooling off. We have been catching redfish, sheepshead, weakfish, black drum, black sea bass, ladyfish, and other bottom dwellers using crabs, shrimp or artificials such as Zman shrimp or gulps.

This is a great time for reef fishing. In 3 hours Saturday, we landed over 80 fish. The biggest was a 35 pound red. It was non-stop action. You have to time it for the right tide, but if you do, it is a blast.

Fished the nearshore reef mid August and did well with live shrimp for bait. Couldn’t keep the large ladyfish off the lines which made for some exciting fishing. We also caught sheepshead, black sea bass and black drum.

I haven’t blogged lately. I had over 300 trips the last three months and I have only been home when the sun was up for 3 days since the beginning of June.  I will start again soon. This has been an incredible summer for boating. This has been the best year we have had.

Fished the reef this morning and saw spades, landed a small cobia and lots of small bsb. Came back inshore and caught some nice black drum and sheepshead around the dock pilings.
